PRESIDENT & CEO

Steve Woodworth joined the Idaho Youth Ranch in 1995. He holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Boise State University. His past experience includes positions as a chief juvenile probation officer, chief of the state’s Juvenile Justice Bureau, and regional director for the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare. Steve is past president of the Idaho Correctional Association and Idaho Council of Youth Service Providers. In his leisure time, Steve enjoys golf, boating and spending time with his family at their cabin near Idaho City.

SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT FOR PROGRAMS

Dr. Robert Ball oversees youth and family programs. He received his Ph.D. in psychology from the University of Southern California, with specialization in Marriage and Family therapy. Bob’s past experience includes positions in schools, group homes, community mental health centers, and psychiatric hospitals. Prior to heading up programs at The Idaho Ranch in 1994, Bob served as the regional administrator of the state’s children's mental health program. Bob has presented on various program-related topics throughout the country including restorative justice, victim-offender mediation, strength-based practices, behavior management, adolescent development, and family issues. He has two boys and enjoys mountain biking, snowboarding, and camping.

ASSISTANT TO THE PRESIDENT FOR FOUNDATION DEVELOPMENT

Chris Paul Nelson is responsible for building the organization’s endowment and planned giving programs. Prior to this position, Chris provided services to youth in the Treasure Valley area of Idaho for 20 years. He holds a degree in Social Work from Boise State University and a graduate degree in General Counseling from the College of Idaho. Chris is also a graduate of the College of William and Mary’s Planned Giving Institute. He is a Boise native. Chris and his wife, Tani, have one son who attends the University of Idaho.

CHIEF OPERATIONS OFFICER

Rick Alis over sees the organization’s human resource and legal departments as well as overall agency operations. Rick graduated from the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs with a degree in Political Science and served as a flight instructor and evaluator for the Air Force. He received his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Texas at Austin and held numerous positions in the legal sector including prosecutor, legal counsel, civil litigator, and college instructor--prior to joining the Idaho Youth Ranch in 2002 as human resources director and in house counsel. Born and raised in the Chicago area, Rick considers himself a life-long, long-suffering Cubs fan.

CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER

Nancy Proctor manages budgets, accounting policies, strategic business plans and information technology systems for the organization. Nancy received her degree in accounting from Boise State University. Her previous positions include vast experience with health care entities including Saint Alphonsus, Evergreen Healthcare Management, Brim, PulmoCare Pharmacy and Blue Cross of Washington and Alaska. Nancy enjoys quilting, needlepoint, traveling adventures, and a love of archeology.

VICE PRESIDENT OF RETAIL

Neal Jones over sees the management of 24 Idaho Youth Ranch Thrift Stores. Neal’s past experience includes 25 years of sales, marketing and operations experience in the healthcare industry. Former employers include Medical Compliance Management, Curative Pharmacy Services, Alpha Therapeutic Services and Option Care. Neal received an accounting degree from Los Angeles Pierce College and a marketing degree from California State University, Sacramento. His hobbies include backpacking and the study of Civil War Living History.

DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT & MARKETING

Roberta Rene oversees marketing, public relations and fundraising efforts for the Idaho Youth Ranch. Prior to joining the IYR, Roberta managed business development for several for-profit organizations, and created and executed strategic brand marketing plans for es/drake in Boise. During her nine years with the Division of Tourism Development (Idaho Department of Commerce division based in Boise), Roberta developed and implemented award-winning private-public partnerships for Idaho, managed customer service training programs for Idaho businesses and government agencies, and managed international marketing in Asia and Europe. Roberta is a University of Idaho graduate.

VICE PRESIDENT OF ADMINISTRATION

Tracy Rowe served as the executive director of the Hays Shelter Home for 17 years prior to joining the Idaho Youth Ranch administration. She co-chairs the organization’s annual Statewide Training conference, which provides practical, hands-on, skill-based training for those working directly with children, youth and families. Tracy’s role as Quality Assurance Administrator for the Idaho Youth Ranch involves developing a team-based quality assurance program to collect and review performance indicators in the areas of outcomes, operations and programming to ensure compliance with licensing, contracting and accreditation standards. Her educational background is in social work, business and computer information systems. Tracy is a rock climber and an avid gardener.
